The Lincolnshire Fens have a unique character that I have been trying to capture.

Went to the Ball

It was a great night out and everybody had a good time, including me.
Working is not usually so much fun.

A hidden gem.

Texture and emotion

Bull1
More redevelopment sites.
Bull2
I think HDR processing can be used creatively to enhance the emotional content of a photograph.
It makes this shot look even more run down by enhancing the textures.

Snow on the lines

Rail
While shooting some redevelopment sites recently I just had to stop at the railway lines.
They are a photo magnet, especially when emphasised by the snow.

Documenting development areas

Water_Tower
I have been trying to document a few areas of Town that are due to disappear.
There are so many areas that have changed and I cannot remember what was there after just a couple of years. Perhaps that is a good thing but I will only be able to tell if I have a historic record.
The snow added to the desolation but also served to hide a lot of rubbish.

Severe weather

More snow falls on Spalding

But our good ol’ Postie got through.

It was the heaviest fall that we have seen for a few years. If you’re under 20 - for a lifetime!
Thank heavens some of us old folk can remember when it was worse if only to prove that it has actually happened before and is not the sudden effect of Global Warming hitting us.

Snow Event??? - HDR and IR

ice.jpg
It sounds more like a Pop Concert than a severe weather warning.

A couple of shots from a Spalding Snow Event. Shame nobody turned up!
I thought I would give HDR and Infra Red a try in snow conditions but in reality the amount of snow that fell on Spalding was not as advertised.
These were shot using high speed bracketing on a Canon 40D at over 6 fps.
I am having quite a lot of fun trying the HDR technique and have used the custom function setting on the 40D to save those settings that I use a lot.

Car gets Top Gear treatment

A low budget car shoot with Top Gear treatment.

HDR - A more subtle approach

stnic1.jpg
I shot these as backgrounds to some portraits that I am working on at the moment.
stnic2.jpg
I shot 3 frames of each seperated by 2 stops and then merged them using Photomatix.
stnic3.jpg
I will adjust this as a background to belnd into the portrait.
