According to the counters on my cameras I take approximately 22,000 photographs each year and the number is rising every year. You would expect quite a few to be pretty good - and of course they are, but sometimes a shot works particularly well and it sticks in your mind. A good example of this is one that I shot during the Spalding Flower Parade earlier this year. It shows a group of girls just about to join the parade, time was short as they were being called to leave but they really wanted their photo taken. That, of course, makes my life a lot easier when nice folks actually want to be in a photograph for the local paper. Adults have a habit of running a mile and getting so self-concious that it is really hard work getting a nice shot of them.
The reason that I like this photograph so much is the way the girls are so relaxed and relate to each other so effortlessly. No adult inhibitions, it is quite obvious that they get on really well and are having a good time. Each pose is lovely, each smile is genuine and they fall together into a nicely composed group with no effort from my part at all. So a big thank you to those girls and I know they had a great day.
